Children nearly always insulin dependant.
| A condition where the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood is too high because the pancreas cannot process it properly. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to help the glucose enter the necessary cells. Complications can occur in vision, kidneys, heart, nerves and major arteries.
Things to look out for: A very severe and regular thirst, repeatedly visiting the loo, especially at night, extreme tiredness, weight loss and blurred vision. Treatment: Blood tests and appropriate injection of insulin Dietary control. |
