The aim of the project is to explore the understanding of inclusion and inclusive practice for students with dyslexia in Northern and Southern Ireland at post primary level. In so doing, there will be an emphasis on comparing enabling and disabling elements of the post primary system of education at the macro (policy) and micro (schools, teachers) levels, while also considering the views and opinions of students with dyslexia in both jurisdictions.
It is hoped that through a comparative analysis of post primary inclusive school practices in Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland, supportive conditions and pertinent barriers to inclusive processes and practice for students with dyslexia will be revealed. This should enable a better understanding and development of the necessary conditions for the equitable education of students with dyslexia at post primary level.
