This study will focus on pre-service teacher’s perceptions of imagination and imaginative education prior and subsequent to taking modules concerning curriculum imagination and integrated arts. During this module, students will have the opportunity to explore different constructs of imagination, put theory into practice and conduct related documentary research. While one of the aims of the project will be to ascertain student’s evolving perceptions and understandings around imagination, we are also interested in examining how well we equip them to take imagination more seriously in classroom practice.
A partnership with another university would allow for productive discussion and dialogic reflection on experiences in another setting that might enhance our pre-service teacher provision on imagination. In this way, this study also hopes to compare imaginative approaches embraced by other Higher Education Institutions who are involved in delivery of education courses.
