Rauschenberg uses transfer drawings -
combining printed images from newspapers and magazines, placing
them face down on paper and rubbing the backs with an empty ballpoint pen or other burnishing device to
transfer the image. He applies paint, pencil, or crayon images.
In this work he has used a chemical solvent, such as
lighter fluid, to the image, giving a clearer and more
complete transfer.
