Viewed creatively, geography as a subject offers exciting possibilities for holistic, outward-looking and dynamic teaching. However, limited collaboration or coherence across phases and between differing communities may constrain pupil experience. Given the complexity of existent and predicted environmental challenges and opportunities (both human and physical), providing pupils with an interconnected and coherent geographical education may prepare them for future global engagement at whatever level they chose.
Our project wishes to explore challenges within current educational provision in both primary and post-primary schools in various regions across the island of Ireland.
