School-based work in the North and South of Ireland: A review of Policy and Practice

The research will explore the role of the HEI Tutor during School Based Work placements; the following methods will be employed:

  • A case study approach using two sites, Stranmillis University College and St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra
  • The findings of the case study will be used to inform the second stage of data collection, i.e. a questionnaire survey to all higher educational institutions engaged in Initial Teacher Education in the north and south of Ireland
  • One to one interview with HEI tutors and school teacher tutors
  • Dissemination of findings at a conference of HEI tutors and teacher tutors
